Modules 1-2
WHERE TO FIND WORK
The first module commences with which industries are hiring right now, and where students can find work. We introduce the concept of permission to work (for international students), and focus on the different work types that are available, such as part-time and casual work arrangements.
WRITTEN MATERIALS
We help each student to prepare their own value proposition and pitch statement, in preparation for their job application journey. Students are then guided through aseries of units which are designed to help them prepare their key written documents for the job application process. We provide an overview of how to prepare a LinkedIn profile, and use it to find work. At this stage we also help students to manage their online reputation by tidying up their other social media accounts and privacy settings.
Modules 3 - 4
FINDING WORK + JOB INTERVIEWS
In this, the heart of the course, we cover 13 key units of material which guide the student through walking around for work, applying online, understanding which jobs are currently being advertised around the country, developing networking skills, understanding internships and work trials, considering the gig economy or starting up a business, preparing for a job interview, managing online interviews, and practicing common interview question responses. There’s a lot to cover here and we guide students carefully through the content.

Modules 5 & 6
POSITIVE MINDSET
Here, we help students to understand that for many, applying for work requires confidence, resilience and persistence. These are actually soft skills that students can acquire and improve over time. Sometimes it can be tough finding work and maintaining a positive mindset. Remaining confident and learning from missed opportunities will eventually help the student to find work.
EMPLOYMENT RIGHTS
In this important module, students are introduced to the role of the Fair Work Ombudsman, and their work rights and responsibilities. At Successful Graduatewe are very focused on helping students to understand their rights at work, different types of employment contracts and rates of pay. We turn to managing taxation and superannuation payments in Australia, and provide advice to international students about how they might reclaim any superannuation payments if they leave Australia after studying. At the end of the course, students work through a course checklist, ensuring that they have passed all quizzes, and then proceed to download their course certificate. We provide instructions on how to load their certificate and our LinkedIn microcredential to their LinkedIn profile, signalling to employers that they are job-ready.
